A B1 Preliminary qualification shows that you have mastered the basics of English and now have practical language skills for everyday use.

The aim of the course is to give you an overview of the exam format, to equip you with the skills and language you need to take the PET examination.

The course is for

The course targets at individuals who have pre-intermediate/intermediate English skills, or have completed Cambridge KET and are ready to progress to the next level, or want a globally-recognized certificate of English proficiency for immigration or study purposes.

Upon completion of the course

Upon completion of the course you will be able to:
a) Broaden your English vocabulary
b) Improve your pronunciation
c) Communicate effectively in a range of situations
d) Write well-structured, accurate and easy to understand letters
e) Use different grammar tenses appropriately
f) Understand TV shows, lectures and videos

The exam is made up of three papers developed to test your English language skills.

  1. Reading and Writing parts last for 1 hour 30 minutes and has 8 parts. requires you to read and understand main points from signs, newspapers, magazines.
  2. Listening part lasts for 36 minutes including 6 minutes to copy your answers onto the answer sheet, has 4 parts, and requires you to follow and understand a range of spoken materials including announcements and discussions about everyday life.
  3. Speaking part lasts for 10-12 minutes per pair of candidates, has 4 parts. You will have to talk with the examiner, with the other candidates, and on your own.

You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). These four scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exams. You will be given a grade and CEFR level.

The exam is targeted at Level B1 of the CEFR. The examination also provides reliable assessment at the level above B1 (Level B2) and the level below (Level A2).

Lower intermediate

The school will carry out regular assessments in the form of written mid-term and final tests and will provide you with mid-term written reports that allow you to keep track of your progress.

After successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of completion
